PublishingPublishing a Web page to your Internet Web site
Make sure you are connected to the Internet before publishing.
You will need the following information:
When you click the Publish button
- Your username. If you are using a Departmental account, type both departmental account name and your username (e.g. dept/jsmith)
- Your password (e.g. jsmith's password)
- The publish location "ftp://ftp.rci.rutgers.edu/./public_html" or "ftp://ftp.eden.rutgers.edu/./public_html"
on the Composer toolbar, you should see a window like this:
If you want to upload images at the same time as the page text, be sure the "Include images..." box is checked. Uncheck it if you just want to update an existing page and haven't changed any images.
When you're through, click on the Settings tab. You should see a window like this:
![]()
The "Publishing address" is the only address you need to fill in. Place the information you gathered earlier (ftp site, username, and password) into the appropriate boxes. Click the Publish button when you're done.
Unfortunately, Composer does not let you create subdirectories. But, Composer will publish to existing subdirectories. You can create them like we did earlier in the class, using a telnet or ssh program, or by using separate FTP software, such as WS FTP (for Windows) or Fetch (for Macintosh). You can get FTP software from Tucows, http://www.tucows.com.
