SPAM
:

Spam is flooding the Internet with many copies of the same message, in an attempt to force the message on people who would not otherwise choose to receive it. Most Spam is commercial advertising, get-rich-quick schemes, or quasi-legal services. Spam costs the sender very little to send -- most of the costs are paid for by the recipient or the carriers rather than by the sender.

Netiquette:

Remember to keep your replies in context. Have you ever gotten a phone message like "That's a great idea, Jim" and you didn't know which idea the person was talking about, it's the same with e-mail.

Keep your replies to messages to the point by using cut and copy. Only include the important comments and questions from the original message.

Just like in life, it never hurts and often helps to be polite and courteous when sending e-mail.

Rutgers University has an Acceptable Use Policy http://rucs.rutgers.edu/acceptable-use.html. I recommend that you look at it if you have any questions.
