Latency and Bandwidth
Performance is determined by:
Latency - time required to send a message with 0 bytes of data.
This reflects the overhead of packing data and making the intervening hops across the network
Bandwidth - rate at which very large packets of information are sent
If there is no latency, this is the rate at which all
data would be transferred.
Often reflects the physical capability of the wires
and electronics connecting the processors
