In the past File Transfer Protocol (FTP) was the way which many Webpage Development programs such as Microsoft FrontPage used to Publish websites to the Internet. However, FTP was insecure; that is, files could be intercepted and confidential information could be obtained by unauthorized people. Thus to protect usernames and passwords on the Rutgers Central Server Systems RCI and Eden, OIT enabled only SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) which means those who use web page development programs such as FrontPage will need another method to publish their web pages. OIT'ss answer is Remote Drive Mapping With Samba.
Publishing web pages to RCI or Eden requires a connection to the www share of the respective account. After that pages can be published using the Publish feature of FrontPage.
