Temporary Group Account

Procedure for requesting temporary guest accounts for a class/program on Eden

These types of accounts are only made for short-term classes/programs that need New Brunswick/Piscataway CCF lab access and contain NON-Rutgers registered students. Rutgers' registered students or incoming new students should use the normal procedure to create their accounts (Eden account creation page is accessible from https://www.eden.rutgers.edu/rats/rats.cgi).

A temporary guest account request for a class/program must be submitted as soon as possible (a minimum of two weeks prior to the class starting date) as those accounts will need to be created manually. Requests submitted with less than two weeks notice cannot be guaranteed to be completed in time. The course instructor/program coordinator can submit the request to any CCF manager who coordinates the IML reservation (see a list of CCF managers below).

The following information must be provided with the request:

  1. A short 1-2 line description of the class/program.

  2. Name of the Rutgers sponsor/course instructor who will take responsibility for the accounts and account usage. The sponsor/instructor will be contacted for any account misuse and be expected to take action.

  3. Beginning and ending dates for the class/program. Temporary account access and files will be deleted after the ending date.

  4. A list of the people (full name) that need accounts. The list should have one line for each person.

After the CCF Manager approves the request, the above information should be forwarded by the manager to this address:

                temp_accounts@eden.rutgers.edu

All temporary accounts are assigned usernames in the form "eden#@eden.rutgers.edu".
