RUCS-NB Secure Services Transition

Web Page Development

If you use Dreamweaver, FrontPage, or GoLive! to publish web pages on RCI, RUCS recommends that you use a program called Samba. Samba allows users to utilize remote drive mapping for Windows to access portions of their home directories on RCI. More information about remote drive mapping with Samba can be found at: http://www.nbcs.rutgers.edu/newdocs/samba. Alternatively, you may use FTP over SSH.

Documentation for using Remote Drive Mapping With Samba in conjunction with web development is available for the following programs for Windows- Documentation is also available on how to configure Samba on all the following Operating Systems: Information on using FTP over SSH-
You may also use FTP over SSH, although this is not officially supported by RUCS. Dreamweaver documents this at their web site. Put "SSH" in the search bar on the main page at http://www.dreamweaver.com. That will take you to instructions for the Mac and Windows versions.
